IT’S ALMOST HERE!

Spring is coming!

Lately, it’s felt like it’s already upon us, but then I look at the calendar, and I’m reminded, we still have a way to go...and I know we’re going to have to deal with a little more of the cold stuff before we’re in the clear.

But it still feels good!

The spring-like weather has been lining up nicely with my days off, and I’ve been taking full advantage of it. I’ve been cutting back perennials, pruning up trees, shrubs, and digging out a few plants in preparation for some landscape changes this year. My body has been a little sore lately, but it feels good to be active again.

While most of the garden is still in its winter slumber, there are definitely some signs that spring is on its way. The fall-planted garlic has pushed through its winter covering of straw, bulbs pushing up through the ground all over the place, and the hellebores, also known as Lenten Roses, are coming into bloom. They’re right on schedule.

I still have plenty to do, but it’s nice getting started.

We can feel spring working its way in here at Skinner’s too!

We’re still chipping away at the winter project list while time allows, but we’re also busily getting things prepped for the spring. The back patio is now loaded with stacks of fertilizer (by the way, it’s time for the RED Bag!) and inside the store, things are changing by the day. I

It’s starting to happen...get ready!

LET’S KEEP THINGS SIMPLE

Lawn care made easy.

That’s a good way of describing it.

I’m talking about our 3-Step Lawn Program. Just three easy applications, one in the spring and two in the fall. As I said, it’s lawn care made easy.

It starts with our Fertilome For All Seasons Lawn Food Plus Crabgrass and Weed Preventer. We just call it the Red Bag, because that’s a really long name...and well, it comes in a red bag. See how we did that? That should go down any time now through early April, but the sooner the better.

And that’s all for this spring.

Later this fall, you’ll come in with the final two applications, one early...think Labor Day...and then one late...think Halloween.

The first one is Fertilome Lawn Food Plus Iron. That one comes in a bright orange bag, so guess what we call it? Yup, the Orange Bag! Aren’t we original?!

The third and final application helps your lawn finish off the fall season strong and prepares it for winter. It’s called Fertilome Winterizer. This one comes in a greenish bag...like a lot of other fertilizers...so we just call it Winterizer to help avoid confusion. Sorry, no color reference on this one!

Just three simple applications and your lawn’s greatest needs are taken care of...fertility, crabgrass, and weed prevention. Your lawn will thank you.

Your life just got easier.

Cameron Rees

P.S. And don’t forget...it’s time for the RED Bag. Good luck out there!
